DerbyDerbyDerby has launched “Dentro la Storia” (“Inside History”), a new editorial section dedicated to long-form football storytelling through original articles, interviews, video productions and archive-based content.
The initiative will explore the players, coaches, clubs, rivalries, anniversaries and events that have influenced football culture, combining sporting history with personal memories and first-hand accounts.
DerbyDerbyDerby is part of the Hub Affiliations media ecosystem and an editorial partner of La Gazzetta dello Sport. The new section forms part of the publication’s strategy to develop original and evergreen content while strengthening its relationship with football communities across digital platforms.
Building a long-term editorial archive
“Dentro la Storia” has been created to give a recognizable identity and editorial continuity to the special projects developed by DerbyDerbyDerby.
The section will combine written features, interviews, photographs, archive materials and audiovisual productions. Former players, coaches, executives, journalists, supporters and public figures will contribute their perspectives on significant careers, matches, anniversaries and moments in football history.
Rather than treating anniversaries exclusively as commemorative occasions, DerbyDerbyDerby will use them as starting points for original reporting. The objective is to place sporting events within their wider human, social and cultural context while creating content that remains relevant beyond the daily news cycle.
The initiative also supports Hub Affiliations’ wider strategy of developing media properties as long-term audience and community-building platforms. Original editorial formats allow the network to strengthen the identity of its publications and diversify the content offered to readers.
From Gianluca Vialli to AS Roma’s 99th anniversary
The approach behind “Dentro la Storia” has already been tested through two special projects produced by DerbyDerbyDerby.
The first was dedicated to Gianluca Vialli and brought together memories from people connected to his sporting and personal journey. Contributors included Enrico Chiesa, Riccardo Ferri, Fabrizio Ravanelli, Roberto Breda and Marco Lanna, alongside other figures from Italian football.
The production looked beyond Vialli’s goals and trophies, focusing on his leadership, personality and the impact he had on teammates, opponents and colleagues.

A second project marked the 99th anniversary of AS Roma through the concept “La Roma raccontata da chi l’ha vissuta” — “Roma told by those who experienced it.”
Former players, executives, artists and supporters were invited to share memories connected with the club. The initiative included contributions from Giuseppe Giannini, Vincent Candela, Walter Sabatini, Amantino Mancini, Thomas Berthold, Amedeo Carboni and Zbigniew Boniek, as well as representatives of Roma supporters’ clubs.
Participants discussed their first memory of Roma, the figures they considered most representative of the club’s history and the personal meaning of the team. The project also marked the beginning of an editorial journey towards AS Roma’s centenary.

A new project dedicated to Ronaldo
One of the next productions planned for “Dentro la Storia” will focus on Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, who will celebrate his 50th birthday on September 18, 2026.
The project will examine the Brazilian striker’s impact on Italian and international football, his influence on the evolution of the centre-forward role and the different stages of a career shaped by major achievements and serious injuries.
DerbyDerbyDerby plans to involve former players, coaches, journalists and other figures capable of offering original perspectives on what Ronaldo represented to teammates, opponents and supporters.
The anniversary will seek to assess Ronaldo’s influence on football rather than simply retrace the best-known moments of his career.
Combining daily coverage with editorial depth
“News cycles move quickly, but some football stories require more time, research and context,” said Marco Torretta, Editor-in-Chief of DerbyDerbyDerby and Head of Editorial Network at Hub Affiliations.
“With ‘Dentro la Storia’, we want to collect first-hand memories and turn them into an accessible editorial archive. The objective is to show how football connects sporting events with personal experiences, cities and different generations.”
Future editions will cover relevant anniversaries, historic matches, influential careers and the origins of major football rivalries. The section will continue to evolve through new contributions and multimedia formats.
DerbyDerbyDerby is an Italian sports publication covering domestic and international football, with a particular focus on rivalries, club identities, supporters and the stories behind the game. NYCE perspective: why evergreen sports storytelling matters
Long-form archives can do work that daily news cannot: create repeatable search entry points, support stronger first-party audiences and give commercial partners a durable context rather than a short-lived mention. Their value should be measured over months, not only at launch.
The approach complements Milanisti Channel’s role in Hub Affiliations’ sports media strategy, where a defined community is served through a mix of daily and longer-life formats.
